Meet Pat

Loose Ends

Pat Noad was born in Australia. While she grew up in the northern capital of Brisbane, the family spent so much time at the beach that the sea, the sand and the salt became firmly ingrained in her psyche.

Soon after graduating she packed a bag and took off on the first of many sorties overseas. She has lived and worked in England, and more briefly in North America. Her travels have taken her far and wide throughout Australia and well beyond, and her love of the wilderness has seen her navigate around many tortuous roads and puff up and down many steep trails.

Always an avid reader, Pat started writing fiction in the 1990s when she joined a group of like-minded enthusiasts with a passion for crime. Her short crime stories soon found success: many were published locally, some internationally, and some won prizes and awards in competition. After a few years she decided to let a couple of her characters loose in a novel, to try her hand at a mystery drawing on the standout locations and rich stories of her home state of Queensland. The result was Loose Ends, the first of the Annie Bryce Mysteries.

These days Pat divides her time between urban life in the vibrant river city of Brisbane, and relative seclusion on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. After a busy and varied working life writing fiction has become yet another career - much more fun than the others (if much less lucrative).

Pat also occasionally participates in the local literary scene by giving author talks and writing workshops, judging competitions and writing reviews.
