Annie Bryce Mystery 'Loose Ends'

Annie Bryce is terrified. Her nemesis, the English criminal Martin Barclay, has been released from prison on a technicality. Now he's coming to kill her. The police are powerless to stop him. She knows Barclay’s revenge for putting him behind bars will be brutal. And final.

A hasty move to steamy North Queensland with her boyfriend, photographer Steve, is no escape − all too soon Barclay is on their trail, peppering their lives with threats and destruction. Even Annie's euphoria at an unexpected inheritance evaporates when it clouds her already stormy relationship with Steve and makes her a target for a con man.

Isolated and anguished, Annie throws herself into a job researching World War Two in North Queensland, eventually uncovering a shocking long-held secret. But thwarted at every turn, Barclay's obsession escalates. He will stop at nothing. Annie knows that a confrontation is inevitable and that his revenge will be terrible - and lethal ... This is the fourth book in the Annie Bryce Mystery series.

ON LOCATION FOR DESTINATION TRIBULATION

Cape York is over 2,500 km (that's 1500 miles) northwest of Brisbane; Cape Tribulation is a stopping point on the journey to the far north, on the wonderful Daintree River. Pat didn’t fully appreciate the immensity of her home state of Queensland, or its diversity, until she travelled there overland. She found this is truly another country. In this unique environment of dripping rainforests, crashing waterfalls, stunning coral reefs and menacing wildlife, everything is larger than life.

She also discovered a very distinctive history there: a history of a pivotal role in World War Two, when more than a hundred thousand servicemen from the United States and Australia were based in the area to fight the war in the Pacific. The more she learned, the more fascinated she became - and also concerned that these dramatic stories seem to be slipping into oblivion.
